In this bracelet, there are three different fabrics: bright red, dark red, and black.
The bright red is from a cotton t-shirt from a place I used to work. Think fire-engine red. For comparison on the texture, think Fruit of the Loom or Gilden t-shirts.
The dark red fabric is from a Land’s End t-shirt that, while also a cotton blend, is very soft and more of a jersey knit. For color, imagine autumn leaves.
The black fabric is from a pair of lounge pants that I was going to donate before starting my business, and just never got around to it (I am the Queen of Procrastination). Luckily, I’ve been able to get so much use of this fabric, and I still haven’t used all of it.
Each end of the bracelet is sewn and knotted together with embroidery thread, a bonus find from my local thrift store.
The silver jewelry cones and magnetic clasps are the only things not upcycled. I went back and forth for a while on what kind of closure I wanted for my bracelets, and eventually settled on the magnetic clasps. I like that they are a bit unconventional, but I also have some arthritis and sometimes my hands shake, so these clasps make it so easy to take it on and off.
