RE.STATEMENT

Freakishly distinct, upcycled clothing

that puts your voice in the room before saying a single word.

For eco-conscious consumers & by sustainable designers,

Our marketplace sells upcycled statement pieces that transcend physical design with the conversation they start and the ideas they share.

Upcycled, repurposed, or renewed...

What is Upcycled Clothing?

Upcycled clothing is new clothing made from used or unwanted parts of clothes that have already been produced. For instance, imagine a never-before-seen jacket made of fabrics from various shirts, lost buttons, and the clean half of Mom's handmade tablecloth that kind of slaps.84% of all clothing ends up in landfills or incinerators. Our designers reduce that percentage by seeing the potential in abandoned materials. Our online marketplace creates beauty from chaos.

Only you can say it like you mean it

Upcycled Fashion that Stands Out

Join the beautiful marketplace of repurposed, redesigned clothing that speaks up without needing to shout. None of the cozy-homemade-Pinterest-DIY look, and none of the excessively loud, obnoxious mess. You'll only see statement pieces for the most interesting souls in the room - that is...if you can manage to catch them in time.

An invitation to stay in the "Loop"

The Circular Economy of Fashion

This "loop" or circular economy is a solution framework that keeps the materials we've already produced in use. Reducing waste and carbon emissions while pushing for gooood design.Yeah, sustainability is important. But it's also just smart.

Why RE.STATEMENT Exists

The better angels of my rebellious nature called, and they wanted better design. As the planet begs for climate action and consumers like you and I fumble around trying to help, gigantic piles of fabrics and materials are waiting to be upcycled - and pieces of art are waiting to be created and discovered.

Our Impact Goals

As we develop an audience for the marketplace pre and post-launch, we plan offsetting 100% of carbon emissions from shipping and packaging each item that gets sold on RE.STATEMENT by the end of the first year, followed by offsetting the emissions from (re)producing the items.Time to do a lot of research and calculating!

About Us

It doesn't take a saint to be sustainable.

RE.STATEMENT is the up-and-coming online marketplace for strictly upcycled clothing, which are new clothes created from existing or used materials. You've definitely noticed upcycled fashion before. It's a statement piece that makes your entire outfit different because it's something never-before-seen, made from fabrics from various shirts, lost buttons, and idk, the clean half of Mom's handmade tablecloth that's kind of really hot.RE.STATEMENT is where you can find clothing from small businesses and independent designers who otherwise would be on page 80 of Etsy or Depop (which by the way if you are on page 80 of Etsy, please send us a message because we are bringing together people who are looking for original, authentic, far-from-ordinary clothes).

So you see, whether you care about looking good, sustainability, or both, RE.STATEMENT is by nature a gateway into eco-conscious consumerism.Think Etsy or Poshmark, but we instead are madly in love with badass design, aren't pretending that it takes a saint to be sustainable, and are more strict about who can buy and sell just so buyers and sellers can have an easier time finding what they like.

I'm Hannah M. Le, Founder of RE.STATEMENT

Fashion design was the first "real person job" I wanted as a kid, until I discovered how much of an absolute fiend I am at applying behavioral economics to product development and social impact startups. If you've known me long enough to remember...
- My subtly-inappropriate clothing brand that paid the bills in college but closed down after 1.) attracting customers who were less subtle and more inappropriate (yikes) and 2.) I questioned the value of producing a new, quirky shirt at the expense of the planet as a consequence of fashion production economics
- My startup blog about companies saving the world that I gave up months after a traumatic brain injury and after I no longer wanted to live up to the expectation of being "good" all the time
- AND when my mom, who runs her own alterations business and is the queen of upcycling, sewed 1,000 face masks just a few weeks into the early pandemic from extra scraps she had saved and just gave them away...
Then it might make way to much sense as to why RE.STATEMENT and upcycling are a huge part of my life.

What else should you know about me? I am also...

An experienced marketing and product manager for social impact startups in the edtech industry, constantly learning from what others regret

A product designer who creates miscellaneous things (that might require the FBI agent in her computer to look away)

A first generation grad who studied marketing, new product development, & entrepreneurial management at the Wharton School @ Upenn

A softcore existentialist who still believes in doing good in this world because we've given too much in this lifetime to do anything less

Constantly asking herself how to be a better friend, lover, sister, & daughter - and will prioritize personal relationships over anything and everything

Someone whose first instinct is to find ways to help others even during moments when her own world is crumbling

The bad girl with good intentions. Slightly intentionally awkward, mildly rebellious, & total heart of gold

So incredibly ambitious, still so far from "making it" in life, but so damn proud of it - because hey, the idea of comfort is terrifying
