Shopping
What is upcycled fashion?

Upcycled fashion is new clothing made from used or unwanted materials that already exist. A jacket cut from three old shirts. A skirt rebuilt from a tablecloth. Nothing is mass produced, and most pieces are one of one, so when something sells it is gone.

Why are so many items sold out?

Because they are one of one. Every designer works from materials they found, which means there is usually exactly one of each piece. Sold out means sold out.

What should I do if I want something that is sold out?

Two options. Subscribe to hear about collection drops before they go live, or request a custom piece and we will match you with a designer who works in that style.

When are new items listed?

In collection drops, at least one to two times a month. Subscribers hear first.

How are prices set?

The designer sets the price they want for their work. RE.STATEMENT lists the piece at retail, which includes our marketplace commission of 10 to 20 percent. Shipping is calculated separately at checkout and is paid by you.

I have used clothes that I want upcycled. How can I do that?

Send us a custom request with photos of what you have and what you want made. We will match you with a designer who can do it.

How do I place a custom order?

Use the custom request form. Tell us what you want, your size, and your timing, and we will connect you with the right designer.

How do I know the items are high quality?

Every designer is reviewed before they are approved to sell, and every listing is approved before it goes into a drop. If something arrives and it is not right, the return policy below covers you.

What is the size chart?

Sizing varies because every piece is made by hand from existing garments. Measurements are listed on each product. Our general guide is on the size guide.

Payment
What payment methods are accepted?

All major credit and debit cards, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and the buy now pay later options shown at checkout.

Are taxes included?

No. Sales tax is calculated at checkout based on your address.

Shipping
Where do you ship to?

Everywhere in the United States. If your address is outside the US and shipping is not offered at checkout, email info@shoprestatement.com and we will tell you when we can reach you.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is paid by you and is calculated at checkout based on the piece and your address. It is not included in the item price.

How soon will I get my order?

Three to seven days in transit after the designer fulfills your order. Fulfillment time is set by each designer and is separate from transit time.

Who ships my order?

The designer who made the piece ships it directly to you. If you order from more than one designer, expect more than one package.

Returns
What is your return policy?

You have 14 days from the day you receive an item to request a return. Each designer may set their own return policy, and that policy takes precedence. Where a designer has no policy of their own, the RE.STATEMENT policy applies. Return shipping is paid by you, and original shipping is not refunded. Full details are in our return and refund policy.

How do I start a return?

Email info@shoprestatement.com with your order number and what you want to return, and we will put you in touch with the designer.

What if I missed the 14 day window?

Email us anyway. We cannot promise anything outside the window, but we will ask the designer.

Selling on RE.STATEMENT
Why should I sell here?

Because the people who shop here came looking for upcycled, one of one clothing. You are not competing with mass produced listings or explaining what upcycling is. You also get collection drops, press, ambassadors, and a marketplace that markets the work rather than the discount.

What does it cost to sell?

Nothing upfront. There are no listing fees and no membership fees. RE.STATEMENT earns a commission of 10 to 20 percent of the sale price, depending on the category. The commission is collected automatically by Shopify Collective at the time of sale and the rest is paid to you, so you are never invoiced and you never have to send us money.

How do I get paid?

Through your own Shopify store, on your own payout schedule. When a piece sells on RE.STATEMENT, Shopify Collective splits the payment at the time of the sale: your portion goes to you and our commission goes to us. If a customer is refunded, the split reverses the same way.

Do I need my own Shopify store?

Yes, because the marketplace runs on Shopify Collective. If you already have one, connecting takes a few minutes. If you do not, say so on the application and we can build one for you.

Can I set my own return policy?

Yes, and it takes precedence over ours. If you do not set one, the RE.STATEMENT 14 day policy applies to your pieces.

How is shipping and fulfillment handled?

You ship directly to the customer from your own studio, using your own rates and carriers. The customer pays shipping at checkout.

Why here instead of Etsy, Poshmark, Depop or my own site?

Sell wherever you want. Those platforms are built for resale and volume. This one is built for one of one upcycled work, and every shopper who lands here is already looking for it.

What are you looking for in a designer?

United States based. Everything you sell is made by you from existing, used or deadstock material. A point of view that reads as intentional rather than crafty, and enough output to contribute to a drop.

How do I apply?

Fill out the application. We read every one and reply to the ones that fit.
